Brian W. Murphy is a personal injury attorney at Decof, Mega & Quinn, P.C. He began his legal career while working as a law clerk for two of the most respected Judges in Rhode Island: Justice Erin Lynch Prata of the Rhode Island Supreme Court and Judge Brian P. Stern of the Rhode Island Superior Court. He assisted both Judges in their work on the Rhode Island Judiciary’s Committee on Artificial Intelligence and the Courts.
When working on a case, Attorney Murphy’s main approach is to always be empathetic. People who come to him for legal counsel are in what could be the most difficult times of their lives, so he always does his best to listen to and connect with them. Oftentimes, Brian feels that his greatest skill is his ability to connect with people.
Brian grew up in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, where he loved most things water-related like the beach and, of course, fresh Rhode Island seafood. After graduating from Prout School, he attended Merrimack College for a Bachelor of Science and then worked in the insurance industry. Later, he would finish his law degree at Roger Williams University School of Law. While in law school, he served on the Law Review and the Moot Court Board, worked as a teaching assistant, and graduated magna cum laude a semester early. Brian was inspired to become a lawyer by his mother, who dedicated her career to representing the poor and indigent. Learning from her example, he became determined to always represent his future clients with real passion for doing the right thing for them.
Currently, Brian is a board member of the Rhode Island Rural Water Association, which is a nonprofit organization committed to protecting and maintaining the integrity of the state’s rural waterways and systems.
Brian is a lifelong fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Celtics – a true New Englander, through and through!
