Attorney Patrick Barry is the President of American Board of Trial Advocates Rhode Island Chapter

Decof, Barry, Mega & Quinn, P.C. is excited to announce that Attorney Patrick C. Barry has been elected as the President of the American Board of Trial Advocates™ Rhode Island Chapter. He is joined by DBM&Q attorney Mark Brice (Of Counsel) as the Vice President and Principal Shareholder Attorney Mark B. Decof as a Member.

The American Board of Trial Advocates or ABOTA was founded in 1958 on the idea that trial lawyers and judges should be brought together to preserve and promote the Constitutional cornerstone that is the civil jury trial. As established by the Seventh Amendment, all people are granted the right to have a trial by jury in civil cases, and ABOTA endlessly campaigns to ensure that right never weakens and only strengthens as years go by. As the 2023 President of Rhode Island ABOTA, Attorney Patrick Barry will play an integral role in keeping the organization on its mission, helping it grow, and empowering members both current and prospective.

ABOTA is considered a “bipartisan” organization in that both plaintiff and defense lawyers are selected. Members of ABOTA are considered pillars in their legal communities who embody the most respectable ethical standards and the most impressive legal practice experiences. To become an ABOTA member, a legal professional must have significant trial experience and results while acting as the lead attorney in a large number of trials. Due to these strict requirements, there are fewer than 7,500 ABOTA members – counting trial lawyers and judges – across the organization's 96 chapters in all 50 states and D.C., making it one of the more prestigious and exclusive legal associations in the world. For comparison, there are over 1,300,000 practicing attorneys in the United States, according to the American Bar Association.

Please join our entire firm in congratulating Attorney Patrick Barry for his selection to be the new ABOTA Rhode Island Chapter President. Decof, Barry, Mega & Quinn, P.C. has always been active in our communities, both legal and local, and we look forward to all that Attorney Barry will do in this important role.
